Going to university usually means 'I don't know what to do with my life, so I'll go to university.' If you start work at eighteen, you are 5 years ahead of someone starting at 23. At 23, for all your education, you will still be the office junior. If you get your career decisions wrong when you are young, you can alter course, but at 23, it is a bit late to find out you are in the wrong job.
Of course I have to know what I want to do first or I have to resort to the delaying tactic - going to university.
My mum will say I'm making a wrong decision, just like how I chose poly instead of staying in JC. I thought I was wrong too, and often look back, regret. Wrong, I made the right decision. Life is about decision. Whatever decision I make is the only one I could make. Everything we do we choose. So what is there to regret? I'm the person I chose to be.
We try to make sensible decisions based on the facts in front of us. The problem with making sensible decisions is that so is everyone else. If you always make the right decision, the safe decision, the one most people make, you will be the same as everyone else.
I'm always wishing life was different.
